| Jun. 26th, 2008 12:49 pm Oh yea!!! US Supreme Court strikes down DC Gun ban:
Most interesting to me is this little bit:
"Held: 1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

| Apr. 6th, 2008 02:37 am Modified CCW Law passes House and Senate!! Georgia HB 89 has passed both houses of the Ga Legislature and now only requires the governerors signature to become law.
This bill adds several of the features I listed back on Jan 9th but removes the requirement for business's to allow vehicle carry.
All in all a nice change to Georgia's antiquated and racist CCW laws.
Text of the new bill and changes to existing:

| Jan. 9th, 2008 05:35 pm Interesting Changes proposed to Georgia CCW laws... Here's an update that might be of interest to those of us with Georgia Concealed Weapons permits... and maybe to some of those without them as well.
There is a prefile House Bill (HB915) set for debate in this years session of the General Assembly. Among other things it:
1.) Removes most of the restrictions on allowed places of carry, excepting only courthouses, public schools (not private) and other areas prohibited by federal law. 2.) Allows loaded carry anywhere in your personal vehicle without having a CCW! 3.) Tightens the time limit local governments have to issue a CCW and provides for legal action by an applicant to force compliance. 4.) Allows open carry of a pistol or revolver without a permit (Same restrictions as concealed carry).
There is another bill pending in the Senate (SB 43):
This one would prohibit employers from restricting those lawfully permitted to carry weapons from having those weapons in a locked vehicle on company property. (Bleh, that didn't come out right... basically, if you're legally allowed to own a firearm your work can't tell you you're not allowed to have it in your vehicle when at work.) | Sep. 24th, 2007 06:33 pm Ooooh Shiny!!! This has got to be the most beautiful knife I think I've ever seen...

Case® John Russell Damascus SlimLock™ with Abalone Handle brand: W.R. Case® & Sons CA5172
Blade masters have produced Damascus for over a thousand years, folding and forging thin layers of steel together to make a stronger blade while creating intricate designs in the process. Topping these knives may take another thousand years!
Damascus steel combines steels of different properties and produces blades with extraordinary toughness and edge holding ability. Known as the Steel of the Ancients, Damascus knives and swords have lived in legend since the creation of Damascus steel nearly 2,000 years ago. The ancient city of Damascus was one of the centers of production of this steel. That, combined with the fact that the steel resembled the damask cloth which was being produced in the city of Damascus- both having a "water marked" pattern- gave this steel its name. Viewed under a microscope, the cutting edge of a Damascus blade displays tiny saw-tooth carbides which are formed by forging in a coal fire. This enables the blade to cut even when it feels dull to the touch. Flexibility is superb. Every piece of Damascus is as unique as a thumb print.
·Ladder pattern Damascus chrome vanadium blade ·Thumb stud ·Abalone handle ·Stainless steel locking liner ·Nickel silver pins and bolster ·Finely adjusted pivot screws ·3-1/2" closed ·Limited edition
